2023
Highrise Deployment System

Highrise Deployment System

Defy-Hi Robotics · 2023 · SOLIDWORKS, FEA

Designed the MVP rig that suspends a façade-cleaning robot over a high-rise glass face — transportable by two people, with full-façade reach. Drove the design with SOLIDWORKS FEA and hand calcs, then installed and monitored the system on a building in Parramatta, NSW.

2023
Fibreglass Shroud Fabrication

Fibreglass Shroud Fabrication

Defy-Hi Robotics · 2023 · Composites

Fabricated the protective electronics shrouds end-to-end: CNC’d MDF moulds, three-layer fibreglass layup, hand-finished, primed and painted to hit both mechanical and aesthetic specs. Deployed on the MVP platform in Parramatta.

2022
Flight Control System

Flight Control System

Defy-Hi Robotics · 2022 · Arduino, SOLIDWORKS

A drone-style controller to stabilise the robot suspended on two dynamic ropes in gusty conditions. Took an operator pose request and trimmed propeller thrust and pitch to hold it. Demonstrated to investors, then deliberately simplified for reliability in the MVP.

2022
Hyperspectral Imager for a LEO Satellite

Hyperspectral Imager for a LEO Satellite

University of Sydney · 2022 · Optics, Python

Built the payload — a low-cost hyperspectral imager. Adapted an open-source optical design (mechanical, optical and electrical mods) to fit a small-sat envelope, with custom Python for capture and onboard compression. Proved the feasibility of low-cost hyperspectral imaging on small platforms.

2021
Marine Park Survey using Machine Learning

Marine Park Survey using Machine Learning

University of Sydney · 2021 · YOLOv5, ResNet

Fish detection and classification from dive video: a YOLOv5 detector feeding a ResNet classifier across six fish families, trained on hand-labelled footage plus iNaturalist data. Scoped from 40 species down to family when the data limits became clear — a first-principles call on what the data could actually support.

2021–22
CubeSat-Mounted Solar Test Module

CubeSat-Mounted Solar Test ModuleLAUNCHED 2024

University of Sydney · 2021–22 · KiCad

Co-designed a payload to fly perovskite solar samples and individually track each cell’s IV curve in orbit. Built the IV-curve-tracking PCB in KiCad with industry guidance; it integrated in summer 2021/22 and launched aboard CUAVA-2 on 16 Aug 2024.

2021
Mars Exploration Cliff-Climbing Robot

Mars Exploration Cliff-Climbing Robot

University of Sydney · 2021 · SOLIDWORKS, Agile

An autonomous platform to retrieve geological samples from a vertical sedimentary cliff. Owned requirements, test methods and the mechanical build; agile cadence and subsystem testing before integration. The final unit scaled cliffs unassisted and survived 5 m falls.

2020–22
Perovskite Solar Cells in the Space Environment

Perovskite Solar Cells in the Space Environment

University of Sydney · 2020–22 · Published (3rd author)

In Prof. Anita Ho-Baillie’s group, tested perovskite solar cells under low-temperature and atomic-oxygen exposure using a cryostat and DBD plasma chamber. PSCs outperformed silicon on low-temperature behaviour and mass — results published on deployment opportunities for space photovoltaics.

2018–20
Mars Rover Integrated Wheel Hub

Mars Rover Integrated Wheel Hub

USYD Space Society · 2018–20 · SOLIDWORKS, Machining

Designed a custom wheel assembly for the student-built rover — inflatable tyre, brushless motor and planetary gearbox integrated into one hub, swappable in under a minute. Internal shielding protected the hardware and dropped the centre of mass for stability on steep inclines.

2016–18
FIRST Robotics — Team 5663 Ground Control

FIRST Robotics — Team 5663 Ground Control

Curtin University · 2016–18 · Autodesk Inventor

Mechanical design, build and pit crew across three seasons. Pioneered a pneumatic dog-leg suspension that outperformed every team on rough terrain; captain and driver in 2017. World Championships in 2016 and 2017; an Australian regional win and Houston qualification in 2018.
